Out now: 'Don't Forget The Business In The Music Business' By Antonio Ponce

The only ‘how to’ books that matter are by those who've experienced what they’re writing about, who have been in the trenches under fire, and Antonio Ponce most certainly has, applying years of musical experience to produce a fine book wisely titled ‘Don’t Forget The Business In The Music Business’, to enable up-and-coming bands to ascend the ladder of success, in his own words, it’s a “lean valuable quick simple guide.”

Based on his band's experience from playing his first show to six months later being invited to play a festival in Tokyo, Japan, Antonio Ponce has put together a how to book for anyone wanting to enter the music business. The book is a great starting point for those interested in the business side of the music industry. Think of it as a quick business foundation musicians can use to get things going.

All musicians want to share what they’ve created, but talent will only get them so far. There are a lot of talented people out there that don’t make it to the next level and are never heard. This book’s goal is to give musicians a good foundation to be ready for when opportunity knocks, but also to bring opportunity to their door.

Ponce explains:

“I would have loved to have this information when our band started. There were so many unanswered questions that took years of searching and experience to learn. If this book had existed back then, we could have leaped over the fire instead of trying to walk through it! I know a lot of new and current bands stuck on the ‘what to do next?’ question will find value in the book’s contents. I hope this book is a tool musicians can use to help them get into a position to get to the next level and notice what we were able to do as an unknown band and that they can do it too!”

The book was inspired by multiple experiences Ponce had over the years, but it was a conversation he had with a fellow musician that began the idea for the book.

“It was a combination of several things. One of the biggest was an interaction I had with a musician. We were at a conference in the U.S. and ended up seated next to each other. He was from my city and their band had been around for years, longer than my band. He was telling me how their band had just gotten on iTunes and how that was a really big thing for them. I thought to myself, this was something I could do in five minutes. A lot of conversations like that happened and I realized I knew how to do a lot of things really quickly that would really help a lot of musicians move forward.”

'Don't Forget The Business In The Music Business' is now available both digitally and paperback on Amazon here and AP Jones Publishing here.

Raging Speedhorn to Hit the Road With Skindred

Ahead of the two sell out dates at The Black Heart in March, Raging Speedhorn are set to join ragga metallers Skindred on their upcoming February tour, following on from the success of their earlier tour in late 2016.

Guitarist Jim Palmer had this to say of the upcoming tour:

“After the fun we had last year, it’s a huge honour to hit the road once again with Skindred and finish what we started! Skindred have grown into such an incredible band so it's an honour. It'll be like stepping right back to those days in the early 2000's when we last shared a stage. Bring on the party!"

Raging Speedhorn will appear on the following dates with Skindred:

Feb 2nd - Derby - The Venue

Since reforming, Speedhorn have spent the last three years reminding the British metal crowd why they were, and still are, one of the most beloved and feared live bands on the planet. 2015’s “Halfway To Hell” received its debut on the BBC Radio 1 Rock Show, and went on to receive national airplay across Europe, while its accompanying video scored its first screening on Scuzz TV. The track was later picked up for a Split 7” with New Jersey space rockers Monster Magnet through German label, H42 Records. The band’s new album, “Lost Ritual”, has been met with universal praise from both fans and critics alike, and received its debut on TeamRock.com!

One thing above all is clear; Raging Speedhorn are back. And there’s not a pair of eardrums or a stage in the land they won’t rip to shreds.

Raging Speedhorn Cancel Remaining Shows For 2016

Following a whirlwind year in promotion of their new album “Lost Ritual” including stops at Desertfest & Download Festival, Corby sextet Raging Speedhorn have announced they will be unable to play any further shows in 2016.

The band have made the following announcement:

“It is with great sadness that we have to announce the cancellation of all our shows for the remainder of 2016 and the immediate cease in activity until the New Year. Raging Speedhorn is a unit, we work together or not at all and right now we need to be together to take care of one of our number. We hope you understand that we don't want to go into details or go public with any information other than to say we will be back in the New Year. This is just something we have to do so we can make sure we can come back in 2017 fully ready for anything it has to throw at us. I hope you will understand and respect our privacy in this matter.

We'd like to say sorry to all the promoters who've booked us, bands who were due to play shows with us and fans who are attending any of the shows we had booked for the remainder of the year. We hope any shows that still go ahead will still be attended, if possible, and that you have a great time with us in mind. You the fans are why we do this and without you we are nothing. All of us are forever grateful for everything you do in support of the Horn, you are like family to us. Right now, we need to regroup and take care of our own.

Party hard, take care of one another and see you in 2017.”

The band have asked for privacy for the time being on the matter and insist they will return in 2017.

UK thrashers Solitary sign to UKEM and release new video & single

The UK thrash masters have signed a new deal with UKEM Records, to release the first brand new Solitary studio album in more than eight years. UKEM are a label fast establishing themselves as major players in the underground scene, with a hunger to succeed that matches Solitary’s own. With this fiercely driven partnership in place and an album to promote that takes British thrash metal to new heights, 2017 should be an exciting year for both band and label.

Asked about the signing with UKEM, Solitary’s front man Rich Sherrington had this to say:
“We are all very proud of the songs on this album and how it sounds. Working with producer Simon Efemey gave us a renewed belief in what we could achieve, so it was essential that we signed to a label with the same level of enthusiasm and with UKEM we have found the perfect match. Having been on UK labels previously we were keen for that to continue. 2017 is shaping up to be mega for us! Having the album come out in time for us playing at Hammerfest and then returning to London with Acid Reign is perfect. Hopefully there will be more to come after that as well, but having UKEM join our existing team of metal brothers can only mean that more people will get to hear and experience our metal.”

Details of the new Solitary album will be emerging soon, but today you can feast your eyes on the new video for ferocious single ‘Unidentified’. The video has been created by Andy Pilkington of Very Metal Art, who has also recently worked with Flotsam And Jetsam, and like the song itself it pulls no punches.

The ‘Unidentified’ single is available to download now from Solitary Bandcamp page as well as all usual digital download platforms.
The album will be released in the Spring, in time for Solitary’s appearance at Hammerfest and their London show with Acid Reign, with many more shows to follow.

Raging Speedhorn Release New Video & Skindred Dates

Corby sextet Raging Speedhorn have released a video for new single “Bring Out Your Dead” ahead of their upcoming run with Skindred!

The track, which received its debut on Dan Carter’s BBC Radio 1 Rock Show recently, was filmed during the band’s appearance at Download Festival earlier this year.

Guitarist Jim Palmer had this to say of the upcoming tour with Skindred:

“We've known those guys for years, Benji longer because of Dub War. We are really happy to be able to go out and play these shows with them, it's going to be so much fun. Skindred have grown into such an incredible band so it's an honour to be asked to do this. It'll be like stepping right back to those days in the early 2000's when we last shared a stage. Bring on the party!"

The new video can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-bUtjBxujI

Raging Speedhorn will appear on the following dates with Skindred:

Nov 1st - Warehouse23 – Wakefield w/Skindred & The Ever Living
Nov 9th - The Lemon Grove – Exeter w/ Skindred & Sanguine
Nov 10th – Roadmenders - Northampton (Sold Out)
Nov 11th - Junction 1 – Cambridge w/ Skindred & Skam
Nov 12th - O2 Academy – Oxford w/ Skindred & Evarose

Since reforming, Speedhorn have spent the last two years reminding the British metal crowd why they were, and still are, one of the most beloved and feared live bands on the planet. Between decimating small venues at flattening volume, with the raw power of a cocaine fuelled rhinoceros, the band have also annihilated stages at some of the UK’s biggest festivals; including Sonisphere, Bloodstock & Damnation, to name a few.

Away from the beer soaked live circuit, Speedhorn have busied themselves in the studio, with 2015’s “Halfway To Hell”. The single received its debut on the Radio 1 Rock Show, and went on to receive national airplay across Europe. While its accompanying video scored its first screening on Scuzz TV. The track was later picked up for a Split 7” with New Jersey space rockers Monster Magnet through German label, H42 Records.

One thing above all is clear; Raging Speedhorn are back. And there’s not a pair of eardrums or a stage in the land they won’t rip to shreds.

Northern Rockers Skies Turn Black Release New Video

Northern hard rockers Skies Turn Black have released the video for their new single “Life Goes On”. Released digitally on October 17th, bassist Dan Woodhead said this of the track: "The track is about falling for someone who is clearly bad news, but it just can’t be helped and running back into a bad situation feels like the only option. Being so frustrated one moment then completely besotted. Hence the more aggressive verses and the sweeter chorus."

The video can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzB-czX00hE

Skies Turn Black formed in 2011, since then they have supported international touring acts such as Malefice, EYE, Double Experience, and New Device. After a few line up changes and arrival of the new bass player, Skies Turn Black are basing themselves in Huddersfield, but venturing to Leeds, Manchester, Bolton, Hull and Liverpool on a regular basis.

Following on from the release of their debut EP in 2015, the band are currently busying themselves preparing for the release of their new album and playing regularly throughout the UK. With a killer sound, and the chops to back it up, Skies Turn Black have what it takes to go to the next level. Keep an eye on these guys.

LÅNGFINGER: Gothenburg Power Trio Premieres “Fox Confessor” Video - "Crossyears" Full-Length Out Now On Small Stone

Gothenburg power trio LÅNGFINGER issued their Crossyears full-length via Small Stone late last month. The ten-track offering was recorded by Johan Reivén and Olle Björck at Sweden’s Welfare Sounds Studio with additional recordings by LÅNGFINGER at Beduin HQ, mixed by Olle Björck, and mastered by Daniel Johansson.

In celebration of its release their brand new video for the track “Fox Confessor,” is available. The Obelisk is issuing, “Crossyears comes jammed with premium boogie and classic songcraft delivered with a new generation’s energy. One need look no further than the track ‘Fox Confessor’ for clear demonstration of all of the above. The side A cut finds itself a comfortable pace and builds tension in its verse only to let loose in a righteous hooked backed up by spacious lead guitar. Then they turn around and do it all again. Another round for everybody. That, incidentally, could also be said to be the theme of the video, though LÅNGFINGER push deeper into narrative than just playing a show and selling their amps (and dog) for alcohol after being stiffed by the club owner, actually going so far as to take revenge on the club owner themselves. Street justice! They wind up living the high life on a rooftop, praising high art and chipping golf balls into the urban setting below. You know, as one does. It’s about a four-minute clip to tell this story, and about a three-minute song underneath, so efficiency is a major factor here to be sure, but LÅNGFINGER don’t need any more time than they take in order to make an impression. Crossyears benefits across its span from their clarity of purpose as much as it does from their choice riffing and rhythmic fluidity."

The band elaborates about the video: “’Fox Confessor’ is the first collaboration between LÅNGFINGER and cinematographer Anders Bryngel. We were exploring the idea of working together for some years and with the new album looming, it was more appropriate than ever. One day we devised a syndicate. We then determined that the effort should be focused on a narrative and as the storyline progressed we let it evolve naturally with the group’s dynamic. A spontaneous process driven by our collective efforts. As for the actual song, which like many of our songs, established itself as an instrumental; was inspired by our favorite Krautrock bands from the late sixties. That was before spending some time in rural Argentina. The lyrics began as rough scribbles, and in the attempt to characterize the broad landscape, which seemed to encompass most of the days spent there, a sort of comic relief broke out into lyric.”
Check out “Fox Confessor,” now playing at THIS LOCATION.

Hear LÅNGFINGER’s Crossyears in full at THIS LOCATION where you can order your copy today.

A truly kick ass power trio is quite possibly the perfect rock formation. If there aren’t that many trios around, that’s because it’s a hard thing to pull off: with just three people having to nail the rhythmic fusion of bass and drums, the wild colors of guitar, and the soul-grabbing focus of the human voice, there can be no passengers aboard. Extraordinary chemistry is essential. Everyone has to be right on it, and locked in. Which is why lots of trios fail, or cop out, and recruit extras.

The members of LÅNGFINGER, hailing from the fertile rock ‘n’ roll city of Gothenburg, are masters of the art. They’ve been playing together since they were in their early teens, and their imminent third album is both the thrilling culmination of their collective endeavor, and a rumination on it – on how time has shaped them and brought them to this point. Within its hard-hitting grooves, the interlocking of LÅNGFINGER’s three disparate characters – Kalle Lilja, the unflappable, precision axeman; Jesper Pihl, the athletic sticksman battering out physical revenge on his kit; and Victor Crusner, the intense, exploratory spirit, bridging thundering bass and howling exorcism – is a magical proposition.

Russia's female fronted dark industrial metal band CONFLICT release stunning dystopian promo video

Russia’s number one industrial metal band, Conflict, have released an incredible new promo video for the track ‘Mechanism Of Life’, taken from the band’s devastating second full length album, Transform Into A Human. It presents a disturbing vision of a dark future, where the lines between man and machine have become irrevocably blurred. The band explore fundamental questions about the nature of humanity over a sonic backdrop of steel-plated riffs, machine driven rhythms and swathes of bleak melody. Front woman Anna provides a fiery focal point, a visually and vocally commanding presence that draws you into the dystopian world of ‘Mechanism Of Life’.

Conflict’s metallic muscle has been honed to fearsome perfection by engineer Greg Reely, who has worked with the likes of Fear Factory, Devin Townsend and Paradise Lost, which allows the breathtaking power of the song to shine through the dark shadows of the video’s imagery.
The video – one of the finest you’ll see this year or any other, is available here, so please watch and share – spread the word of Conflict’s dire warning.

The Malta Doom Metal Festival

Established in 2009, the Malta Doom Metal festival (MDM) returns on October 21st and 22nd, 2016 at Chateaux Buskett, Rabat, Malta for its Eighth edition.  The festival has grown from strength to strength since its first edition (headlined by Italian legends Dark Quarterer) and is now a regular, annual appointment for doom and old school metal acolytes in Malta and beyond.  Ever since the festival’s inception, the MDM team have demonstrated unflinching commitment to host the very best that the doom and old school metal scenes have to offer - as all previous MDM editions may attest.  And this year’s behemoth edition is no exception, with a mammoth, mouth-watering line-up to die for!  From the molten godly epic doom of MONASTERIUM (Poland), DESOLATE PATHWAY (UK), and TRINAKRIUS (Italy), to the primal Hellhammer worshippers WARHAMMER (Germany), the ritualistic sludge attack of BARABBAS (France), on to the arcane, majestic doom of Canada’s CAUCHEMAR, the savage black-thrash onslaught of trailblazers BUNKER 66 (Italy) and the doom laden grooves of Sweden’s MORTALICUM, this year’s MDM is indeed a must for all those initiated in the purity of the path of olde.  Further undisputable quality is added to this year’s killer edition with the pure cult prog-folk doom of NORTHWINDS (France), the seminal doom-death Dutch gods PHLEBOTOMIZED and Brazilian legends MYTHOLOGICAL COLD TOWERS!  We shall be further entertained by MEN OF MAYHEM’s sizzling stoner doom and the MALTA DIO’s DISCIPLES’ most apt tribute to the master RJD.  Could this already blistering line-up of poser-decapitating bands have been topped you might ask? Yes, it could, with this year’s headliners – doom gods PLACE OF SKULLS and old school death metal elite vanguards MASTER - adding even more immensity to this year’s colossal line-up. One of Malta’s leading metal DJs – DJ Toty – will be spinning an old school metal set while the proceedings on stage unfold.  Let the head-banging and true metal worship commence! MDM is here!

Outright Resistance Announce New Tour & Video

Hot off the back of their stunning performances at Bloodstock & Beermageddon, Hertfordshire metallers Outright Resistance are set to hit the road again in support of their new EP “Me Vs I” this October with Buried & Forgotten!

The band are set to hit the following towns:
22/10 - Monty's, Dunfermline
23/10 – Opium, Edinburgh
24/10 - Ivory Blacks, Glasgow
25/10 - Trillians Bar, Newcastle
26/10 – Scruffy Murphy’s, Birmingham
27/10 - Grand Central, Manchester
28/10 - Bantam, Northampton

The band also recently premiered their new video for “Maimed In Chelsea” over at Team Rock!

Filmed by Dragon Fire Productions and taken from their latest EP “Me Vs I”, which was released earlier this year. And although their latest material was only recently released, they’re mulling over ideas for what will be their debut album.

The band told TeamRock: “We're always writing, so that when the time does come to think of the next record we're ready to jump straight into the process of what we really have a feeling for. We do have something in mind already to be completed next though, we've got a few minor things to figure out to make sure it does work as an idea, but we're beginning to put some plans in place.”

The video can be seen here:
http://teamrock.com/news/2016-09-13/outright-resistance-release-maimed-in-chelsea-video

Since forming in 2011, Hertfordshire based quintet Outright Resistance wasted no time erupting onto the British metal scene with their debut release “Don’t Eat My Organs”. They quickly began racking up shows across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire & London. Including shows with Hacktivist and hardcore mob TRC.

Fast forward to 2015; Outright Resistance released the “Poveglia EP” to solid praise from both the media & the wider metal community. Their message of unity rang true in their video for the song “We Are Here”; a heart-warming statement from a band determined to remind people struggling that they are not alone, nor should they be forced to deal with their problems as such if they don’t want to.

The band went on to become one of six finalists in the 2015 London arm of the Bloodstock Metal to the Masses competition. Despite not making it to the New Blood Stage, the quintet continued their widespread assault across the country with an eight-day DIY tour with Norwich based metalcore quintet Silenced By Shadows in July of that year.

Following on from their successful 14 date Sum Kind Of Plague tour in March, the band have returned with their latest release “Me Vs I”. With a slew of dates lined up across the UK and Ireland, Outright Resistance are geared up once again to unleash their uncompromising assault to the masses

LÅNGFINGER: Crossyears Full-Length From Gothenburg Power Trio Out Now And Streaming

Crossyears, the anticipated new full-length from Gothenburg power trio LÅNGFINGER, is out TODAY via Small Stone. The ten-track offering was recorded by Johan Reivén and Olle Björck at Sweden’s Welfare Sounds Studio with additional recordings by LÅNGFINGER at Beduin HQ, mixed by Olle Björck, and mastered by Daniel Johansson. Wrote the The Obelisk of the recording, “From the swing and stomp of its title-track to the organ-laced grandeur of ‘Atlas,’ the record brims with classic spirit, but casts off the stylistic restrictiveness of vintage production in favor of a full, vibrant sound, resulting in a mix that brings out the strengths of both without sacrificing the obvious chemistry the band has built over their time together. Also it rocks. Confidently.”

“Crossyears is not only honoring the music we listened to in our adolescence,” relays the band, “but it’s also the embodiment of our relentless attitude and eagerness to claim new musical ground. Our goal was not to promote an experimental journey, rather the opposite. The years of performing live and the countless hours rehearsing in our quarter provided us the opportunity to head straight for our indisputable roots, rip them up and make something loud out of it. This is our most authentic and straightforward record to date.”
LÅNGFINGER’s Crossyears is currently streaming in its entirety at THIS LOCATION.

Raging Speedhorn to Tour Ireland

Hot off the back of their recent run of UK dates, sludge overlords Raging Speedhorn are set to hit Ireland, with Belfast hardcore mob By Any Means & Irish metallers Dead Label, for their first run of dates since reforming in 2014!

The dates for the shows are:

Friday Sept 16th - Cork - Crane Lane
Saturday Sept 17th - Dublin - On The Rox
Sunday Sept 18th - Belfast – Voodoo

The band’s next UK appearance will be as part of the London Tattoo Convention from September 23rd-25th alongside Orange Goblin & The Broken Chords. The event will also include a 2000 AD Exhibition and performances by Fuel Girls & Pyrohex. More details can be found here - thelondontattooconvention.com.

Aussie Metallers Jack The Stripper Stream New Video On Team Rock

Ahead of their upcoming European dates to support the EU release of their acclaimed album “Raw Nerve” on August 1st, Australian metallers Jack The Stripper have streamed their brand new video “Nibiru” over at Team Rock!

Speaking about the new song, frontman Luke Frizon says: “With so many different platforms shared by media and your peers telling you how to feel, how to think, how to view yourself every day – it's a given that disillusionment and dissociation will strike a lot of people, and cause suffering. Nibiru is for those people and seeks to illustrate the sense of loss, separation, and worthlessness that they feel.”

Check out the new video here:

teamrock.com/news/2016-06-15/jack-the-stripper-stream-new-video-for-nibiru

The band’s EU run includes:

August 10th-13th, Brutal Assault (CZ)
August 14th - Rockstadt Extreme Fest (RO)
August 17th, Maribor (SLO) Stuk w/ Parkway Drive & The Word Alive

Formed in 2007, Melbourne’s Jack The Stripper have cemented their reputation in Australia’s metal scene with their fierce and innovative brand of chaotic hardcore, a relentless work ethic and an atypical, ferocious on-stage prowess. Considered by many to be a boundary-pushing, total sensory-inclusive, interactive extreme experience, and one of the most incredibly intense live shows on the circuit today.

The band’s candid and visceral approach has gained them many plaudits from both fans and critics alike, leading them to be listed as “The best heavy live performance in Australia” by Triple J. The band released their first EP “Black Annis” in 2009. The band proceeded to tour Australia and began building a name for their stunning live shows. They released their first full length “Raw Nerve” in 2013. A record that I Probably Hate Your Band proclaimed as “up there with the giants of the genre”.

Following the release of Raw Nerve, the band has gone onto tour Australia and Asia (including Japan) extensively. Racking up support slots with international heavyweights such as The Dillinger Escape Plan, Fear Factory, Cancer Bats, King Parrot, Northlane, Ne Obliviscaris, Black Tongue, Iwrestledabearonce, Carnifex, Rolo Tomassi, Northlane and many more! In addition, the group have performed at notable festivals including Wake Up Festival (Taiwan), Bigsound, Invasion Fest, and Sonic Forge.

Ceti – new album “Snakes Of Eden” to be released in Autumn

Polish heavy metal band Ceti return this Autumn with their tenth studio album entitled “Snakes Of Eden”. The follow up to the acclaimed album "Brutus Syndrome" (2014) is scheduled for the worldwide release on October, 7th 2016 via Metal Mind Productions.

Now the band has revealed the cover artwork of “Snakes Of Eden”. As it was with their previous offering, the artwork was done by Piotr Szafraniec.

Grzegorz Kupczyk, Ceti’s vocalist comments: “It’s a wonderful, almost unbelievable coincidence that fate brought Piotr Szafraniec and Ceti together. Piotr -  a brilliant artist with an open mind, full of artistic visions, and us - people without complexes, artistically independent. I gave Piotr a free hand, he had a freedom of expression as an artist and graphic designer. Final result is simply stunning.”

Time Machine is ready to explode. The last recording work of the Italian-American band Supercats and the Badger is coming out for the Areasonica Records, a label known for successes reached in the international underground world.
---
Released among the USA, Italy and Europe, Time Machine brings us through a musical journey made of different auditory aspects, twelve songs as a mix of  funky, rock and blues, which do not exclude typical beats from the pop world.
---
The album is empowered by a significant credibility given by the featuring with Federico Poggipollini (Litfiba, Ligabue), the arrangements of the Master Massimo Zanotti, the significant participations such as the guitars of Placido Salamone (Celentano), the vocal solos of the blues singer Sara Zaccarelli and the trumpets of Massimo Ghidoni and the intervention of Zanotti himself on the keyboards and trombone.
---
Time Machine - already anticipated by the release of the first single Morning Light feat. Federico Poggipollini - is followed by the new single Infinity and the namesake video clip, directed by Oscar Serio.
Realised through an original and innovative use of the overlay technique, the video clip of Infinity makes us lose ourselves in a psychedelic and romantic scenario, where the characters stops being figures and become feelings, through the vision of metaphorical images evoked by the listening of the song.---

EMBLOODYMENT PRESENTS THE VIDEOCLIP OF THE TRACK "OF BEASTS AND MEN " INCLUDED IN ITS NEW ALBUM "THE ONE BEFORE THE LAST"

The death metal band , Embloodyment , has just released their debut ablum , "The One Before The Last" .

This is one track from the album, "Of Beasts And Men", in video form.

The video has been fully produced by the band itself, including the idea, script, make-up and props and filming.

It's a video where they want to represent what would probably happen if the animals, after all the abuse suffered by the men, beat against the humans.

Embloodyment tells this story in the purest style z-series and accompanied by their own pets.

The video was presented exclusively at an event that was organized for the animal house Perrikus, given its relationship with the cause leaning: abandoned and mistreated animals and the welcome from people who had the privilege to anticipate its official launch was very positive.

We hope you like it, enjoy it!

Blues Rockers The Thinking Men Stream EP On Never Enough Notes

British blues rockers The Thinking Men are currently having their latest EP, “Queen Of The Ravens”, streamed over at Never Enough Notes ahead of their July 30th release date!

When asked recently about the EP title, which is also the name of the lead single, the band said:

“We enjoy delving into the darkest recesses of man’s mind, a place that remains hidden from the majority of the world. What you tend to discover is that emotions, such as love, often have many faces, some of which are a lot darker and more sinister than the popular societal conception of love would lead you to believe. So, ‘Queen Of The Ravens’ is about dispelling popular myths concerning love by highlighting its potential to psychologically torture.”

The full EP can be streamed here - http://www.neverenoughnotes.co.uk/2016/06/nen-exclusive-the-thinking-men-preview-new-ep-streaming-queen-of-the-ravens-in-full/

The Thinking Men were formed by Johnny Raspin (guitar and vocals) and Ronnie Smith (lead guitar). As a duo they began writing and performing together, but were soon joined by Sarah Raspin (keyboards & backing vocals), Matt Rowe (drums & backing vocals) and Duncan Samwell (double bass). Described as “Gritty and seductive bluesy rock” by The Blue Walrus, this exciting Norwich quintet have been working hard cultivating and maturing their sound accumulating in their latest offering. They have carved out a somewhat unique sound, harking back to the swinging 60’s, but with a contemporary, modern feel. Channelling inspiration from the likes of Tom Waits, Nick Cave, The Doors and Jack White the band have seen their popularity grow and have built up a steady following locally, often selling out venues.

The Thinking Men have become reputable for their eccentric, unpredictable and theatrical live performances that simply enthral and captivate their audiences with infectious, foot stomping anthems that reverberate throughout the auditorium. A must see live act that doesn’t disappoint, from the first note to the final chord! They began attracting more attention in 2013, picking up Future Radio’s Next Big Thing award.

While building their scintillating live reputation, the band have also produced a number of self-releases. Most notably their 2014 EP, “Ululate”. Which was mastered by Joe Laporta of Sterling Sound (The Killers, Foo Fighters & Imagine Dragons). They also continued to get busy on the live circuit; scoring spots on a number of festivals, including The Secret Garden Party, VW Whitenoise, Symmetry & Red Rooster. Elsewhere, the band racked up support slots with Molotov Jukebox (fronted by Game of Thrones actress Natalia Tena), The Weeks, Doors Alive & Kill It Kid. Their most recent home town show in Norwich at the famed Norwich Arts Centre was a sold out affair.

All of which has led to their latest release; “Queen Of The Ravens EP”! In support of the new record, the quintet are set to hit the stage again this summer. With a slot at Festival Too, one of Europe's largest free festivals, and a support with The Wonderstuff. It’s an exciting moment for The Thinking Men. Time to come along for the ride!

BLACK CULT - Cathedral Of The Black Cult - out now

The second full-length album by Croatian Black Metal band.
Containing 10 songs, including Motörhead cover “Kingdom of the Worm”, it's a manifestation of the individual presence of its creators within the Black Metal scene for almost two decades. Each track is a journey into a realm of despair and darkness, mainly due to the harsh vocals and cold & dark guitar melodies that blend perfectly together.
This is not an album that anyone can just 'whack on' in the background willy nilly. It must be listened to intently and taken in like the musical drug that it is. "Cathedral Of The Black Cult" is a flawless, yet intimidating musical experience which will open a portal to another dimension to the listener who's ready to gaze into it.
Streaming melodic riffs in extended phrases form the defining character of each song with representational distinction and progressions towards tonal and rhythmic changes, communicating the purpose of hierarchical sequence observed in nature’s ferociously necessary order of operation, reflected in the substance of the inner-self, magnified in the character of spiritual striving and agonizing existential discovery.
This is pure unsaturated Black Metal in all of its cold fury! There isn’t just grim lyrics reflecting the power of Satan and the beauty of Darkness, but the album actually draws the listener into the world beyond humanity. If you truly understand the music, you will be taken to the dark endless universe!!
This is the future and the past of the Black Metal! This is a masterpiece of Black Metal and Extreme Metal in general!! Every other word and description is pointless...
For fans of: Satyricon, Emperor, Mayhem, and all Black Metal fans in general.
Another Side Records, 2016 (ASR18-125)

Exlibris - new single and new line-up

Polish heavy metallers Exlibris revealed a lyric video for their brand new single “Harmony Of The Spheres”. It is the first taste of band’s upcoming album and the first track to feature Finnish singer Riku Turunen on lead vocals. Lyric video is available in THIS location.

Band’s drummer Misiek Ślusarski comments: “Some people were quick to name Krzysiek’s departure as the end of the band but we always knew it was just another obstacle in our way. Since the formation of Exlibris the vast majority of music was written by original members Daniel Lechmański and Piotr Sikora so we never worried about the quality of new material. We did however expect finding a new singer to be some kind of a problem. It turned out in the end, that the best one lives over a thousand kilometers away.”

Piotr Sikora, keyboardist adds: “In addition to Riku being an experienced and very professional singer, we simply hit it off on a personal level. That and not being driven away by our sense of humor is what makes him the person we were looking for for almost a year. The physical distance surely is a challenge but it also opens new exciting possibilities. At the moment we’re preparing to hit the stage for the very first time but right after that we will begin the pre-production of our new album. The new single is just a small taste of what we have in store so it’s definitely something to be excited about!”

On June 25th, Exlibris will headline the second stage at Rock Hard, Ride Free Festival in Goleniów Poland. More dates will be announced soon. Band’s touring schedule for this year includes shows in Poland, Germany and Finland.

Riku Turunen comments joining the band: “I have been super excited to get on stage with Exlibris guys since I first heard their music. The original plan for me was to do only couple of gigs to patch up missing lead singer position for those shows... but then one thing led to another... I have been working on new a single with Exlibris for the past few weeks and when I was asked to join the group, I didn't have to think twice! I hope... no, I am sure the fans of Exlibris will like how the new group sounds. It is definitely different with my Mickey Mouse vocals on top of killer music material, but just give a listen to the new single and make up your own mind!”

Exlibris was founded in Warsaw, Poland in 2003. According to Ranker.com, their debut album “Humagination” was the highest scoring album of the year 2013 in internet reviews. “Aftereal”, the band’s latest album, was released in late 2014.

Exlibris - lineup:
Riku Turunen - vocals
Daniel Lechmański - guitars, vocals
Piotr Sikora - keys, orchestration, programming, vocals
Piotr Torbicz - bass
Misiek Ślusarski - drums

Captain Of The Lost Waves Video Secures Film Festival Slots

“Another World” Set To Appear At Festivals In The UK, Slovakia & Croatia

“Another World”, the debut video by eccentric alt-indie troubadour Captain Of The Lost Waves has been selected for a number of film festivals across the UK and Europe! The clip, created by BAFTA winning animation studio, Fettle Animation, has been selected to appear at the Slovakia International Animation Festival, the Supertoon International Animation Festival in Croatia and will be part of the Show Me The Animation festival at the Cube Cinema in Bristol on Monday June 13th.

The single, which is set for release on June 13th, will donate half of its proceeds to the charity, CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably). A charity set up to help deal with the rise of young male suicides within the UK. The Captain had this to say on the donation and the charity:

“CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) is a charity which provides sterling awareness & much needed support in light of male suicide. Now the biggest killer of men in the UK, aged 20-49. Yet the money spent on this research & treatment is but a fraction of other leading causes of death. The Captain would indeed ask others to dare forage into the much misunderstood, clandestine environment of where ' social conduct is narrow, limited, confined & albeit rigid...a compliance with a learnt, indoctrinated behaviour that no longer serves us as Men, or indeed as a race.

May 'open uncensored speech become a natural evolutionary 'tip of ones hat' ... The fact that we neither discuss such a topic in private or public is a major part of the problem itself. Every download bought goes a tiny way towards helping on a larger scale. Appreciation dear 'First Mates'

The Captain is set to release his debut album, “Hidden Gems – Chapter 1”, in September 2016 through the Brigand Broadcasting Company. It will be accompanied by a series of performances in unusual, bespoke, intimate and engaged settings.

A timeless troubadour, The Captain aims to create a concoction of music & interactive, intuitive performance, with no gig repeating the previous. Where sweet black cabaret meets a healthy dollop of vaudeville. Replete with an equal measure of joy, pathos and profundity it has to be seen to be believed.
Ahoy! Come aboard and sail with the Captain, an intergalactic time detective, whose mission has been to shed light on those who neither chased, courted nor endeared themselves to any audience. These are the lost stories and the hidden gems, much like The Captain himself!
